30 Days, 30 Posts: Day 1 of NaBloPoMo

Today is November 1st. It’s the mark of many things. Halloween candy is on sale. The weather is cooling down here in Northern California so I’m swapping my tanks and sundresses for sweaters and boots. The holiday season is approaching and for the first time in years, I have the holidays off. Today marks 7 months of being in a different work role, one where I’m not flying around the country sleeping in hotel rooms, but rather in an office environment, instructing, and returning to my own bed at the end of the day. And it’s the countdown to the last few months of the year, that final push to reach those goals you had set at the beginning of the year or a chance to end the year strong.

Accountability has always been a motivator to me. When I publicly share my goals, they have more weight. It doesn’t mean that they’re more or less important than other goals that I’ve set, but in a way it’s my way of asking for help. It’s a public declaration of what my intention is and my way of asking for my community to support me. Ask me how they’re going. Don’t let me make excuses. Be kind but firm with me. Give me feedback, positive and critical. Help me become better. Bribes can sometimes work too, depending on what you’re offering 😉 In return, I can do the same for you. If you have a goal that you’re striving towards and need help, I’m your girl. I won’t push you, unless you want/need to be pushed. I’ll support you in a way that works for you.

So, without further ado, here are my goals:

  1. Writing: Per my last post, I haven’t given this blog the TLC I’d like to give it, and I’ve struggled with getting back into my groove. (Sometimes I feel like this is a constant struggle and I should just give up, but I do honestly get an incredible amount of joy and peace from writing that I can’t seem to stop trying. And then when people tell me they read my blog? It’s one of the best compliments ever. Ever. Sigh.) I’m going to try something that helped me 4 years ago. In November 2013 I did something called NaBloPoMo which stands for National Blog Post Month (though I called it NoBloPoMo because it was November). Essentially, you challenge yourself to write a blog post every day that month. It stems from NaNoWriMo which stands for National Novel Writing Month where you’re encouraged to write a novel in a month. 30 days, 30 posts, starting with today.
  2. …you know, I was going to list a few things, but I stopped. Why? Because I feel like this is a cycle with me. I try to do too many things at the same time. So, I’m going to stick with sharing just one, this one, and keep my focus on it. Writing. A post a day. For the next 30 days. And along the way, as a result of it, I’m sure more will come out of it. Like learning Squarespace and sprucing up this site. But at the minimum, a post a day for a month.
 303 days into the year...
303 days into the year…

So there you have it. I’m trying again, again. I’ve lost count for how many times I’ve tried to restart my writing. But I’m determined, and hopeful, that this time it’ll stick. I’ve shared my goal. Keep me honest, folks. Help me get better. Maybe throw some topics at me that you want me to write about (off the top of my head, I have a lot of travel to catch up as well as random musings, but ideas are always welcome!). For the record, I searched extensively to see if the exclamation mark goes inside or outside the bracket, and if I needed a period, and apparently this is what you’re supposed to do. What would we do without the internet?! I digress…

If you have a goal you need some help with, let me know! I have a friend holding me accountable for blogging this month while I keep her accountable at meditating and another is going to give NaNoWriMo a shot while I do this blogging thing. It takes a village and I’ll be part of yours.

  1. I got your back! Can’t wait for more Sejal nuggets. I might consider joining you in writing land, too. ❤️
