30 Day Challenges

I have four days left in my NoBloPoMo challenge and I’m really proud of how far I’ve come. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve managed to write every day (I consider a day before I go to bed, not necessarily midnight). While my posts have been random, they’ve been getting done and I’m proud that I’ve managed to stay on task and focussed so far. And I’ve been getting it done, even with being out of town and what not.

It hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve managed to write every day (I consider a day before I go to bed, not necessarily midnight). While my posts have been random, they’ve been getting done and I’m proud that I’ve managed to stay on task and focussed so far. This whole concept made me think of a discussion I had with friends. I have friends who host a Whiskey + Podcast night (kind of like Book Club but with podcasts, it’s pretty cool!) and a few sessions ago we discussed a podcast called, “A Better You”, from TED Radio Hour. During the podcast, a guy who did different 30 day challenges was interviewed about why he did the challenges and what they did for him. At the start of the month, I had also thought I wanted to do a minimalist challenge, but quickly realized that it would be too much to do both. So, like I tell my students, I’m going to add on, not replace. December could be a good time to try the minimalist challenge or something like Whole 30 as I try to develop a stronger eating foundation before I go back to flying in January. There are a bunch of different challenges I would like to try, but before I get addicted to the competition bit of it, I need to evaluate why it is that I’m doing them and what I’d like to get out of them. What do you think about the concept?

As for this one, I’ve got 4 days to go. While it’s been great, I’m not as proud of my writing: I think it’s been really random and jumbled and I’m not sure if I make any sense, but I have to go back to what I set out to achieve, and that was to write every day and make it into a habit. Early on during this challenge, I would take time to modify things on the site as well as I learned about Squarespace and its features. There are still a few things I need to learn how to do, such as managing the email sign up list and sending out emails when I post, but that’s going to be a work in progress. Here’s to 4 more days and the lessons and improvements that come with it.
