Literally. Check out my little chicken!
My friend Doug moved back to Arizona over the summer and recently bought a house with his brother: one that needs a little bit of love, but this duo (and the rest of the roommates), are up for the challenge! Their backyard is amazing with two fire pits, a bbq entertainment area (with a bar!) and lots of room for new fun. I would have gone with a hot tub (though I’ve been told there’s still room for that), but they did something very “Portland” in my opinion–they built a chicken coop!

Yes, a chicken coop with actual chickens. Naturally, I “wanted” one–and Sejal sometimes gets what Sejal wants.

Chicks in the coop

There were two to choose from: a big brown one that seemed to bully the other chicks and eat their food (…sounds kind of like me 😉 ) or this grey silver and black one that was going to be really unique looking and beautiful when she got bigger. I saw a picture of what she, a wyandotte, would look like and fell in love. Meet my chick: MJ Nickel or Nicks for short.

I’m sure Nicks will grow up faster than I can even imagine, but I’ve told the gang in AZ to show her my picture so she knows who her “mama hen” is.
